Basics of Weight loss and weight gain

if you're looking to lose weight after Occam's Protocol, or after any exercise regimen for that matter, the key is the following:
if net caloric intake < caloric expenditure, you WILL lose weight
while there are slight variations among people depending on your metabolism, this should only affect the numbers slightly.

Build Strength

Do resistance training (aka lift weights). The more muscle you have, the more calories your body will naturally burn just by you being awake. You don't need to be "huge" or have massive arms...just the slightest amount of lean muscle training will help you to instantly burn more fat.

3500

On average, 3500 calories is 1 pound. If you want to lose 1 pound per week, you should - on average - try to remove 500 calories from your diet every day.

Eat More, Smaller Meals

Calculate how many calories you should eat in the day to lose weight (using any number of online calculators) and then divide that by 6. Try to eat 6 of these small meals every day...it will help to speed up your metabolism.

Simple Meals

Don't get fancy with your meals. Stick to the simplest meals you can, and repeat these meals every day. When people try to get too fancy, it makes it harder to stick to the diet...and that is the biggest impediment. Easy, simple, meals that are healthy are the key to an effective diet.

optimize health

Everyone's goal is to be as healthy as possible. To reach your peak health, simply dieting and exercising isn't enough to get you there. Here are some additional things you should try to do to optimize your health, whether you're on Occam's Protocol, Geek2Freak, Paleo diet, or any diet for that matter.

1) Sleep: it is so important to get adequate (7-8 hours) of sleep every night. It helps your body restore balance, and the health benefits are irrefutable.

2) Water: drink water like its a part-time job. The more water you drink, the more toxins you flush out and the more optimally your body performs. While dehydration is a real thing, so is over-hydration. Try to drink at least 10 glasses of water throughout the day. Here's a fun fact about water weight: water weight is something you lose when you start to drink MORE water. When you're not drinking enough water, your body starts to hold on to more water as a reserve, since it knows you aren't drinking enough. When you start to drink more water, you'll naturally lose a few pounds because now the body recognizes it is constantly getting water, so it won't need to store any. *Quick way to lose some quick weight!

3) Meditation: Yoga or 5-10 minutes of morning meditation can go a long way in clearing your mind before a long, potentially rough day. Try to spend some time alone in the quiet to meditate.
